NEOFINDER CATALOG TRANSFER ARCHIVE
It catalogs all your data, so you stay in control of your data archive or disk library. Ha.NeoFinder (formerly CDFinder) rapidly organizes your data, either on external or internal disks, or any other volumes. His name is Norbert and he's both awesome and super responsive to bugs and feature requests. The program is actively developed by this German guy.
NEOFINDER CATALOG TRANSFER UPDATE
You can upgrade to the server edition if you want something that will update the catalogs automatically - which I want to say is under $150 USD but I don't need multiple users or automatic updates so I haven't dug into it terribly far. $40 per computer (not per server, just one copy for each computer you're working on). There is an iOS app for viewing the catalogs on mobile (I'm not sure about android) which works although again, you need to load the catalog into the app - it a huge deal for me because I just let the catalogs live in a Dropbox folder and download them into the iOS app as needed) You'd have to mount the drives to your computer (Mac or PC) to create and update catalogs (scan the drive, create preview files etc) which can be a little time consuming but when the catalogs are updated you don't need to connect to the remote drive at all. I use a program called NeoFinder (they have a windows version) for cataloging all of my drives, local and remote and as long as the catalog is up to date I can see the contents of the drives whether they are online or offline.
NEOFINDER CATALOG TRANSFER SOFTWARE
Maybe some sort of cataloging software is a better approach. Log on to that server using its interface, not DSM - but I understand what you're going for.
When I say connect to the remote server directly, that's exactly what I mean. On the other hand, friend's server is not home-hosted, has much greater speed and then it just becomes a question of uploading files to him.Īnd what do you mean by saying "connect to the remote server directly"?
Just sharing those files to friends directly from my NAS is not an option, cause I need to control my bandwidth usage cause I'm not the only one who use the internet in my home, and I can't have its speed throttled when friends deside to access some big files.
NEOFINDER CATALOG TRANSFER PC
The main issue is I want to be able to do it from my phone, and for it to be as easy as when I do it from PC browser on DSM (select local folder - move/copy to - select mounted ftp/webdav). So I use it to download files to my NAS, and then sometime want to upload specific files to specific servers. I just have friends with different servers like nextcloud and asus aicloud, and they couldn't setup anything that can be as easy for them as downloading files remotely using DS get app is for me. I'll try to describe my specific use case, maybe there are indeed better ways to aproach things. It's not about accessing remote data, it's about seeing that data structure and uploading some things to it from my synology, so access speed is not the problem.
